This Thursday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), Editorial Ocean Sur and the Cubadebate website come together to present two books resulting from journalistic work: “War is not wait”, by Andy Jorge Blanco and “Letras de Género, tres años de journalismo violeta”, by Dixie Edith and Ania Terrero.

“War Does Not Wait” is a book of interviews with Cuban war correspondents who had the difficult task of practicing their profession in belligerent camps in Cuba, Lebanon, Angola, Nicaragua and Libya.

This volume narrates, as its prologue writer Iraida Calzadilla Rodríguez rightly points out, the story of men and women who «say goodbye to parents, children, family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, the streets of the city, the warm and noble beaches of the Island, of weekend lunches; and they leave without safety to return to face combat, the death of their companions, the experiences of winners and losers, and the traumas that emanate from hell.

For its part, “Letras de Género, tres años de periodismo violeta” is a pioneering contribution in our media, having as its starting point a regular section in a wide-ranging daily digital publication, which addresses for the first time the relations of gender, its contradictions and challenges in our national environment addressed to a very broad and diverse audience.

For this reason, one of its great values is to address various issues on gender relations in its widest range, with a language accessible to the entire population, without renouncing the academic rigor required by the topics covered.
