The Attorney General’s Office issued 48 arrest warrants against alleged gang members of the MS13, Barrio 18 and common criminals.

“With these actions, 34 cases of various crimes such as homicides, extortion, sexual crimes, fraud, among others, would be being resolved. During the procedure, 7 raids were carried out, finding evidence that incriminates the detainees,” reported the FGR.

In extortion cases, the defendants demanded $300 dollars from the victim in exchange for not kidnapping their relatives and not making an attempt on their lives. Meanwhile, those detained for the crime of Fraud one of some ways was: through WhatsApp, sending messages to the victim advising of alleged packages that they would receive, but to withdraw them they had to deposit $700.

The municipalities involved were: Santa Ana, Chalchuapa, San Sebastian Salitrillo, Candelaria de La Frontera, Coatepeque, El Congo and Metapán.
