Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, who was at Spain’s Villarreal, signed this Friday for eight years with the Chelseaannounced the English club.

Jackson, born 22 years ago in Gambia and scorer of 12 goals in the last Spanish League, has already played three games for Senegal’s national team.

Chelsea did not specify the cost of the operation, but according to the press it would be 32 million pounds (R $ 194 million at current prices).

“We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a player with great potential, as he showed last season with Villarreal. We believe he is close to entering a new stage in his career and we look forward to seeing him work with our new coach. Mauricio Pochettino and his teammates”, commented the club’s sporting co-directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, quoted in the statement.

This is Chelsea’s first signing for the new season. Recently, several players have been leaving, such as N’Golo Kanté, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly for clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea also saw Mateo Kovacic join Manchester City, Kai Havertz move to Arsenal and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Milan. Mason Mount could soon sign for Manchester United.
