The water has not yet warmed up, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations is already warning: the risk of death in water bodies rises simultaneously with the air temperature. Nevertheless, the residents of Brest are already looking at the city beaches with might and main, because for a long time, on June 1, the beach season officially started. So where can a Brest dweller swim? Where can a resident of our city relax in the summer and how are our beaches prepared for the influx of visitors?
Central beach on the promenade
The central beach in Brest is one of the safest places to relax and swim in the city. Our most famous beach on the Francysk Skaryna embankment has been preparing for this season more diligently than anyone else. Now it is not just a city beach, but a cultural well-maintained place: it was fenced off, two gates were installed – from the embankment and from the side of the bridge over Mukhavets along Shevchenko Boulevard, new sun loungers and deck chairs, umbrella canopies, changing cabins, as well as a workout area for outdoor fitness training and playground. For the convenience of vacationers, a shower, a drinking water column and a dry closet will operate in a fenced area.
Rowing channel
Perhaps one of the most popular among Brest residents is the beach on the Rowing Canal. Convenient due to its location, especially for the residents of Kovalevka, controlled by rescuers, including a medical worker and a diver, there are also good amenities for a small city beach: changing cabins, shady awnings, drinking columns.
However, despite all the amenities, the beach does not have the best reputation – a serious rescue service is on duty here due to a large number of accidents, and the quality of the water periodically forces the sanitary service to restrict swimming. At the moment, everything is in order, and with due observance of safety rules, the Rowing Canal is a great place to spend a weekend.
Red Yard
This picturesque place, where sand and clay used to be mined, has been the official swimming beach since 2015, which many Brest residents do not hesitate to call “prestigious”. The location of the Red Yard allows us to call the water in the quarry one of the cleanest within our region. And getting to this reservoir will not be a problem – you can do it without a car, by public transport. Cabins, catering facilities, a lifeguard service and a large car park certainly make the Red Court prepared for the beach season.

This is the name of the recreation center located on the paid Kosichi beach. At your service are shade awnings, showers, changing cabins, a children’s trampoline – for only three rubles on weekdays. If you want to spend a little more time by the water, you can rent a summer gazebo or a guest house, use the barbecue, and for an additional fee, even take your pets with you.
Additional benefits of relaxing on the beach of Kosichi include a real Russian bath, located on the territory of the recreation center, on the shore of the lake. With a minimum order for three hours for a company of up to six people, a steam room will cost 120 rubles. The amount includes not only a sauna and a font, but also a separate kitchen, wi-fi, a double bed and two sofas.
