L’Hotel Santa Marta from Lloret de Mar celebrates its 65th birthday. Located at the foot of Santa Cristina beach, the history of Hotel Santa Marta goes back to the end of the 19th century, when it was a property belonging to the Batlló family. In 1956, the property passed into the hands of Josep Noguera Espasa and Marta Batlló Canadell, who decided to take advantage of its location to turn that stately summer house into a hotel. This is how the Hotel Santa Marta was born, named in honor of its owner and also the hotel patron. Under the direction of the architect Joan Barangé Tusquets, remodeling and extension works were carried out. The hotel officially opened its doors on June 14, 1958with an opening ceremony that was attended by authorities and outstanding personalities from the world of tourism and catering.

Currently, the establishment is run by the second and third generation of the family, with the clear aim of maintaining “the family essence”. “Service, our customers and our employees are very important to us. We don’t consider ourselves a luxury hotel in terms of decoration, but we do in terms of the attention we offer and the space we are in, surrounded by nature”, says Andrea Noguera, co-owner and manager of the hotel.

The five-star hotel has 76 rooms, as well as various services such as a restaurant and a “Wellness & Spa” area. The establishment, which invoices almost six million euros a year, expect a good summer season. As Andrea Noguera details, they currently have 80% of the rooms booked for July and 78% for Augustdespite the fact that the co-owner believes that they will reach at least 95% occupancy during these months.

Over the years, the establishment has forged a prestigious reputation, in accordance with the five stars, and has been transformed to meet demands and improve the facilities. Thus, 20 new rooms were built in 1962, followed by a second extension in 1972 to add 14 more.
