Naples to Paris: Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum to the Louvre

From Raphael to Caravaggio, from Michelangelo to Ribera, two major museums, among those with the most important collections of Italian art, are joining forces for an exceptional exhibition: the Capodimonte Museum in Naples is lending Louvre 70 of his greatest masterpieces. The Marmottan Museum also takes an interest in prints: he presents the collection of the Swiss foundation William Cuendet & Atelier de Saint-Prex, which brings together the great names in engraving from the 15th to the 21st century. Works by Dürer, Rembrandt, Canaletto, Piranèse, Goya, Lorrain, Daumier, Degas, Corot, Manet, Degas, Bonnard, Vuillard or Picasso and also contemporary works created at the Atelier de Saint-Prex in Switzerland. Basquiat and Warhol together at the Vuitton Foundation

Between 1983 and 1985, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol produced 160 paintings in common where two aesthetics, two generations and two temperaments come together. Drama, police violence and racism thus intersect consumerist madness, popular culture and pop imagery, all intertwined with signs, graffiti, symbols and numbers. 70 of these works are shown at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. The Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art again exhibits the Australian Ron Mueck, works unseen in France and emblematic works of the hyperrealist sculptor which testify to the recent evolution of his work. His monumental installation Mass (2017), the largest he has made, composed of huge human skulls, comes out of Australia for the first time, just like Dead Weight, a cast iron skull weighing nearly two tons. After San Francisco and Houston, the pharaonic exhibition is at the Great Hall of La Villette, its only stop in Europe. The same people who produced the Tutankhamun, the Treasure of the Pharaoh exhibition in 2019, the American company World Heritage Exhibitions, offer more than 180 pieces with exceptional colors that immerse us in the universe of Ramses II, the legendary pharaoh.
