The first race of the UK Round has ended with the victory of Álvaro Bautista in a test where tire management was essential. The championship leader continues to widen his lead overall and is getting closer to the goal of the season, which is none other than retaining the title.

At the end of Saturday’s race, the talaverano has attended to GPOneand has recognized that it has cost him more than he would like to manage the race, especially due to some tires that he did not know how long they would last after having a nice battle with Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jonathan Rea: “Obviously, I am delighted with this victory. What worried me the most in race 1 was tire management and the fact that the bike was moving more than necessary in the first few corners. I managed to have a good fight with Toprak and Jonathan in the first part, then I managed to break away and win. The tires have behaved well and that has allowed me to keep pushing”.

The Ducati rider has achieved a historic event, which is none other than the first victory for the Borgo Panigale team at Donington Park since 2011 when Carlos Checa won, in a test in which he has managed to ride easily and without risking: “This is my first SBK win here at Donington and I couldn’t have wished for it more, I rode with the ease that I like. That’s what makes the difference”.

“I try to be the best driver possible, avoiding mistakes”, commented Álvaro Bautista, who regretted the mistake he made in the qualifying session, although he hopes that in the next sessions he will be able to maintain that confidence that he has at the moment with the Panigale V4 R: “Obviously mistakes happen like this morning in qualifying. However, I want to continue the weekend with this confidencedoing the best I can.”

Michael’s teammate Rubén Rinaldi has assured that he is curious about who will be on the other side of the box next year, but “The election will not change my approach for the remainder of the season or for 2024”. Despite all of this, looking forward to tomorrow’s race, he hopes to repeat a tough battle on the track with Razgatlioglu, who is one of the strongest drivers in the sprint race: “The new asphalt has given me important help, making it easier for me to ride. Tomorrow will be quite tough, especially in the sprint race where Toprak is the favourite.”

Lastly, the Spaniard wanted to give more details about his future, about which he affirms that he does not want to think about what he will do in 2025, his main concern being to maintain the motivation he has at the moment on the bike: “Right now there is no one unbeatable. My current motivation allows me to ride the way I like, reaching the highest level. I don’t know if I will also race after 2024, but the important thing is that I feel comfortable with the bike and for next year the goal is to maintain that confidence.”concluded Álvaro Bautista.
