On this Wednesday’s session, the broad front presented a series of measures to try to address the water crisis that Uruguay is going through, in the midst of the bloodiest drought in decades. Several representatives of the FA were present at the meeting, led by the president of the party, Fernando Pereira.
“This crisis requires a comprehensive approach plan to mitigate its effects. You cannot get out of a crisis like this with only economic resources, actions and dedicated work with a clear direction are fundamental”, affirms the FA in the document presented to the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou.
For the opposition, the National Emergency System (SINAI) should participate in the coordination of actions to address this complicated situation and ensure “the supply of drinking water for consumption to the entire population, guaranteeing its availability, distribution and access through a logistics plan, technological applications and the corresponding subsidies”.
In addition, they askeda great political and social dialogue for waterwhich addresses the strategic management of water resources, the development of the necessary infrastructure, and specify and deepen compliance with environmental management measures in the Santa Lucía river basin”.
