Renfe has issued a total of 638,200 free subscriptions in Catalonia in the months of May and June for train journeys between May 1 and August 31. Some 50,000 less than those claimed last quarter, presumably due to the summer and vacation effect. The Government decided this week to extend transport aid until December 31, with free multi-trip passes and discounts on intra-urban journeys.
Of the total number of multi-trip tickets issued, approximately 531,200 correspond to Rodalies season tickets and close to 107,000 to Media Distancia season tickets, according to Renfe sources informed Europa Press this Sunday.
Nationwide, Renfe has issued a total of 1.88 million free subscriptions in Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia, in addition to Avant passes with 50% discounts, for journeys between May 1 and August 31, 2023.
Of the total free passes issued in the first two months of this four-month period, almost 1.38 million correspond to tickets to travel in the different suburbs of Cercanías, Rodalies and Rodalies Metric Width, while some 440,000 passes are for Medium Distance routes.
In addition to the free subscriptions for recurring customers, Renfe has sold more than 65,000 tickets with 50% discounts from Avant to be used on high-speed Media Distancia services.
