Russian Alexandra Kosteniuk won the world rapid chess champion title for the first time in her career.

The World Rapid Championship is being held in the Polish capital Warsaw. On Tuesday, in the 11th round, Kosteniuk drew with black pieces with another representative of Russia, Yekaterina Lagno.

After that, Kosteniuk scored 9 points and became unattainable for her pursuers.

Kosteniuk previously became the second at the World Rapid Chess Championship three times – in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
