Nestlé consolidates its leadership in the food sector positioning itself, for the sixth consecutive year, as the leading company in the food industry with the best reputation in Spain, according to the Merco Empresas y Líderes 2023 index. In this way, the Company is ahead of Campofrío and Pascual, which present the following positions of the top 3.

At a general level, Nestlé is in 11th position in said ranking, which includes the 100 companies with the best reputation in Spain. Thus, the company is only behind companies such as Inditex, Mercadona, Grupo Social Once, Repsol, Mapfre, Telefónica, Coca-Cola, Ikea, Santander and Mahou San Miguel, which lead the list.

In relation to the ranking of business leaders, Jordi Llach, who took over the Company’s general management last year, directly enters the 85th position of the top 100 most outstanding leaders.

Reference leading company

These good results in the Merco de Empresas ranking are reinforced by other recognitions for Nestlé in the food sector achieved in recent years, such as the Randstad award for the most attractive company to work for; recognition as Best Employer Brand from the Linkedin Talent Awards 2021 or the Brand Footprint 2022 Award granted by Kantar in Spain and which places the company as the first manufacturer present in the baskets of Spaniards.

Likewise, Nestlé also leads the 2022 sector ranking of the Merco University Talent, which includes the best companies to work for according to university students. The Company also received the Promarca InnovaCcción award both in the Employment category for the “Talent Esplugues” initiative, for its contribution to protecting employment and promoting and fostering the growth of quality employment, as well as in the “Purpose and Innovation” category. Social” for the “Coach Exit” program, which it develops with the Exit Foundation, aimed at students in situations of social vulnerability.

Social and environmental commitments

This good position is also the result of the large number of initiatives developed by the Company in both social and environmental issues. Just to mention a few, Nestlé Spain has recently renewed its collaboration agreement with the Red Cross in its commitment to continue supporting the humanitarian action of the organization and has also joined the “Zero Child Poverty Country Alliance”, an initiative promoted by the Government of Spain, which aims to change the path of child poverty through the collaboration of the public administration, companies, foundations and the third sector.

Also from the Nestlé Cantabrian factory, 11,000 kilos of products have been donated to the Food Bank of Cantabria, intended to help families of Ukrainian refugees who had arrived in the region, as well as people at risk of social exclusion.

Finally, among the achievements in environmental matters, it is worth highlighting the biomass boiler installed in the Nestlé Cantabrian chocolate factory, which uses the husk obtained in the cocoa roasting process as biofuel for the production of steam or a 30% reduction in the use of water in this same factory thanks to the installation of a closed evaporative cooling system with which the water used in industrial activity remains in a closed circuit and is reuse continuously.

Likewise, the certifications of the Alliance for Water Stewardship awarded to the tomato sauce factory in Miajadas (Cáceres), the bottling plant in Viladrau (Girona) or the production center in Herrera del Duque (Badajoz) for carrying out sustainable water management. In addition, this plant from Badajoz was also recognized for its sustainable economic development by receiving the “Comarca de la Siberia” award.
