Adif High Speed (Adif AV) has acquired a new monitoring train to run on standard gauge tracks at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour (km/h).
The vehicle has equipment for the dynamic auscultation of the track and catenary, an odometry system (measurement of the speed and space that the train travels) and equipment for the analysis of the current collection capacity of the catenary.
The contract, awarded to the company CAFalso includes the maintenance of the train for a period of four years and the supply of a minimum ‘stock’ of spare parts for its maintenance.
The supply of the new standard gauge auscultator train will have European financing through the ‘Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU’, they have pointed out from Adif AV.
On the other hand, the high-speed company has stated that the train will carry out dynamic track monitoring tests on high-speed lines, in which the response of the vehicle when interacting with the track is recorded, measuring different accelerations perceived in its interior to know the comfort and stability of the march.
The dynamic auscultation of the catenary will also be carried out, in which the interaction between the pantograph and the catenary is analyzed, registering the contact force and tests of the ERTMS circulation management system and reliability and training will be carried out in those lines or sections of new construction in standard gauge.
“Auscultation is a strategic activity for the maintenance of lines in service, since the evaluation of the quality of the infrastructure allows for a predictive analysis. With this procedure, the main parameters are analyzed to establish, maintain and increase the quality, reliability and safety of the facilities”, they have highlighted.
