Seven Defendants Acquitted of Murder but Sentenced for Involvement in Orminge Case

None of the seven defendants can be linked as perpetrators to the murder of a 17-year-old boy in Orminge in Nacka last year. However, five of them are sentenced for various involvement before and after the murder.

Last year in July, a 17-year-old boy was kidnapped and taken to a wooded area in Orminge where he was brutally attacked. He was stabbed in the chest and shot in the head with a submachine gun. The boy had been reported missing the day before.

Months later, a 14-year-old boy came forward claiming that he had been beaten and blackmailed for mishandling a hidden submachine gun. The 14-year-old revealed the location of the weapon to the police, leading to its discovery. Investigations later revealed that the weapon could be connected to the murder of the 17-year-old boy.

Following the developments, seven people were indicted for involvement in the crime. However, the district court has determined that none of them can be convicted as the perpetrator. Chief councilor Olof Wetterqvist commented, “It appears from the investigation that other people have also been involved, and none of the accused have been able to be linked to the murder scene.” Councilor Anna Eleblad added, “The evidence also does not show that the defendants were responsible for planning the crimes, but four of them knew at least parts of the crime plan.”

Despite the lack of evidence linking them directly to the murder, the defendants did not escape punishment. The 20-year-old man received the harshest sentence of thirteen years in prison. The district court believes that he instructed the 14-year-old boy to deliver the submachine gun to the actual perpetrator who committed the murder in the forest. Additionally, the 20-year-old was sentenced for assault and attempted blackmail against the 14-year-old boy.

Another defendant, a 25-year-old man, was sentenced to eight years in prison for his involvement in purchasing the car used in the crimes. Another individual was convicted of complicity in burning the car. Additionally, the two 16-year-olds who lured the victim into the forest were sentenced to youth care. However, the two remaining defendants were acquitted of involvement in the murder and kidnapping but were convicted of other crimes.

Justice has been partially served in this tragic case, with the district court acknowledging the involvement of the defendants in various aspects of the crime. While the actual perpetrators remain unknown, the court’s decision brings a level of closure to the victim’s family and the community affected by this heinous act.
