A return to basics. Nineteen after his departure from AJ Auxerre, Djibril Cissé finds the Icaunais club which trained him and then offered his first professional contract. The former international striker (41 caps, 9 goals) joins Christophe Pélissier’s staff for this season. The latter was kept in office despite the relegation to L2 after the last day of L1 a month ago. Five years after his last contract as a player in Yverdon (D3 Switzerland), Cissé, now 41, will put on his crampons but only as coach of the Auxerre attackers. They had not been prolific, scoring only 35 goals (18th attack). He will therefore be responsible for giving valuable advice to Ajaist attackers.

Djibril Cissé is one of the best French strikers in history. Trained in Auxerre by Guy Roux, he was twice crowned top scorer in L1 (2002 and 2004) before joining Liverppol FC with whom he won the Champions League in 2005. He then played three seasons at OM (2006 -2009) before notably visits to Lazio and Panathinaikos.

In the France team, he wore the blue jersey 41 times. On the eve of the 2006 World Cup in Germany where the Blues reached the final (lost on penalties against Italy), he suffered a broken tibia-fibula during a preparation match against China which deprived him of world Cup.
