Lukashenko, who mediated between Putin and Prigozhin during the military uprising in Russia, made shocking statements and said that hard times are ahead for Russia.

Lukashenko publicized the difficult and desperate situation Putin was in on the day of the uprising. He said that during the uprising, no one was visible except Speaker Volodin, Chairman of the Federation Council Motviyenko, Patriarch Kirill and a few others. Lukashenko made it public that Putin’s team took a more wait-and-see attitude during the uprising and did not support Putin unambiguously. Of course, these statements of Lukashenko will greatly upset Putin.
Lukashenko publicized that Putin is in a weak military position in the face of the uprising. It is clear from his words that Putin was able to mobilize only 10,000 armed men, including the Moscow militia and cadets (that is, not so combat capable), against the 25,000 Wagnerites marching to Moscow. That is why Lukashenko was preparing to send a special brigade of the Belarusian army to help the Russian authorities.
Lukashenko’s statement justifies the claim of international experts that Putin’s regime has actually weakened, and the Russian elite will take a wait-and-see attitude during the next crises. Since 80-90 percent of its combat-capable military forces were involved in the war with Ukraine, the Russian state became very weak from the inside. After the uprising was prevented through the mediation of Lukashenko, Kremlin propagandists and Putin himself launched a big propaganda campaign about how “heroically” they suppressed the uprising. It turns out that this self-promotion of Putin is at the expense of Lukashenko. That’s why Lukashenko emphasized several times in his speech that there are no heroes in this case: “I say sincerely, there are no heroes.” However, it seems that Putin’s self-promotion, while he was doing the main work, offended Lukashenko so much that he even criticizes Putin for what happened. It is true that he criticizes himself along with Putin in order not to do it in a destructive way. For example: “We are guilty together with Putin that we did not take measures in time…” It is clear that Lukashenko could not take any measures against “Wagner”. Just to soften Putin’s criticism, he declares himself guilty along with Putin. Lukashenko repeatedly emphasizes that he is the one who prevented the uprising in Russia. He does not want to give the victory wreath even to Putin. Lukashenko says: “Yes, we prevented the processes in Russia from going down a dangerous path. Maybe we prevented terrible events. We are allies, we could not stay out.” Lukashenko does not miss the opportunity to brag in front of his team and continues: “Many of you say thank you Lukashenko, he saved Russia, he should be erected a monument. I don’t like monuments…” ))) Lukashenko also admits his fear and explains why he helps Putin: “If Russia falls, we will all be under its ruins. Without Russia, we will be destroyed.
If this uprising was successful in Russia, they would immediately transfer it to Belarus. Needless to say, I helped Russia again.
If Prigogine’s rebellion had gone to the bloody stage, the 2nd front would have been opened in all of Russia. As during the civil war.” Lukashenko also objects to the arrest of Prigozhin’s associates and warns Putin that “darker days are still ahead.” Lukashenko says: “There is no need to arrest anyone now. I say these words to Russians, urapatriots and urapropagandists. There is no need to arrest or kill anyone. You need to calm down and turn this page. Don’t make the current tense situation worse. Note that this is just the beginning. Which of you can stand up and say it’s all over? No one can say. A very difficult time awaits us.” Lukashenko does not miss the opportunity to sting Putin again and say that it was Putin himself who created the conditions for the “Wagner” uprising: “Putin and I represent the generation of politicians who are leaving. We must learn from these events. We should be more careful with the military unit like Wagner. We have to meet them in time and solve their problems.”

And we have conclusions to draw from all these statements of Lukashenko. I want to highlight three of them.

Putin has weakened so much that even Lukashenko doesn’t count on him anymore. He is not afraid that it will cost him and he is not afraid to present himself as a superior politician. Lukashenko said, nothing is over yet. Difficult days are still ahead for Russia. Even Lukashenko admits that he, Putin, and “they are a Belarusian dictator in an absolute sense. Lukashenko admitted: “Both Putin and I are politicians of a generation whose time has come to an end.”

They represent the next generation of politicians.
