The Sun emitted a strong solar flare on July 2, peaking at 23:14 UTC, which has been classified as class X 1.0, in the most intense part of the scale.
The mission SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory) de la NASAwhich is constantly observing the Sun, captured an image of the event: a solar flare as seen in the bright flash at the top right of the image.
The photograph shows a subset of extreme ultraviolet light highlighting the extremely hot material in the flares and which is colored teal, reports NASA.
Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy. Solar flares and flares can affect radio communications, electrical power grids, navigation signals, and present risks to spacecraft and astronauts.

The X class denotes the most intense flashes, while the number provides more information about its strength. An X2 is twice as intense as an X1, an X3 is three times as intense, etc.
