The Figueres es Mou dance festival will prioritize support for contemporary creation through artistic residencies in the next decade. This Sunday the contest closed its tenth edition with success and over the course of six days it attracted 7,113 spectators. In this year’s edition there were 25 shows scheduled in the streets and squares of Figueres, most of them with free entry. The organizers believe that over the ten editions of Figueres es Mou, they have established themselves as one of the most important dance festivals in the country and program performances by Catalan, Spanish and foreign companies. The aim is to spread the language of dance through outdoor shows.
This Sunday the Figueres es Mou festival closed its tenth edition. Some of the shows that have aroused the most interest among the public is the proposal of the Bivouac company, which brought together more than a thousand people in the lower square of La Rambla. Also of note are the five proposals from the Suport a la creativación program which has allowed the artistic residency of companies that have developed and shown their proposals and are in different stages of creation.
One of the most emotional moments of this tenth edition was the performance of the dance-performance piece ‘Las Muchísimas’ starring a group of volunteers from Emporda over 60 years old. The spectators of the festival gave a very long round of applause to the twenty women who danced the choreography created by the Mallorcan company Mariantònia Oliver.
