To follow God in the best way possible, Christians need to read and follow the teachings of the Holy Bible, which means that they also need to be able to access the book. In China, unfortunately, this is not very easy and the situation could get worse if the communist government insists on creating its own “updated” version.

The intention to adulterate the Bible is part of the efforts of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to try to contain what they consider a “threat” to the growth of Christianity in the country.

The objective, in theory, is to mold the sacred text to the ideals of the communist regime. Currently, only churches recognized by the State, that is, monitored by the government, have the right to distribute printed Bibles.

But for people like Kurt Rovenstine of the organization “Bibles For China”, what is already difficult could become even more so, if the government moves forward with the objective of adulterating the Scriptures.

“Local churches have assured us that if the Bible changes, if it is altered in a way that no longer reflects the faithful translation of the original manuscripts, it will no longer be distributed,” Kurt said.

In practice, this would increase the pressure of the State on Christians, and could bring punishment, as it would mean disobedience to the government. “This is a pretty tough problem,” says Kurt.

According to Kurt, the most important thing is that the churches already understood the gravity of the moment and promised to remain faithful to the original writings, even if the CCP commits the absurdity of wanting to force the acceptance of an “updated” version of the Word of God.

Kurt continued, second the Mission Network News: “The Word of God is important. It is God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the protection of Almighty God that are keeping the word as it should be.”

Christians now ask for the support of the Christian Church around the world so that they know how to react to deal with this threat. “They are praying that God would guide us to keep what He wants us to have, exactly the way it needs to be so that the truth of the Gospel can be discovered in the pages of the Bible,” concludes Kurt.
