China-Africa Forum on Women: The First Lady of Burundi present at a major event in China

Hunan ( Chine ), 1/07/2023 – China today occupies first place as a world economic power. As a member of BRICS and contrary to the GUAN (Globalisation American Unipolar Neoliberal)[1]it promotes a multipolar world conducive to the emancipation of all cultures.

As part of Burundi’s foreign policy, HE Ndayubaha Angéline, First Lady of Burundiet President of the Good Action Foundation – Umugiraneza –arrived in China Monday, June 26, 2023. The purpose of his trip was to participate in the China-Africa Forum on Women. Warmly welcomed by Ms. Huang Shu, Deputy Director General of the National Women’s Federationas well as by the Ambassador of Burundi in China, she represented theOffice of the First Lady for Development in Burundi (OPDD Burundi).

During her visit, the First Lady had the opportunity to meet Ms. Huang Lanxiang, Deputy Party Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). They discussed the opportunities for collaboration between China and Burundi, a country with excellent diplomatic relations. The First Lady expressed her gratitude to China for its technical and financial support, in particular to OPDD-Burundi.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, the First Lady visited the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Innovation and Demonstration Park, located in Hunan province. This park showcased the flagship products of African countries. Proudly, Burundi exhibited its coffee. The Ambassador of Burundi in China assured that other Burundian products would soon be presented.

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, the First Lady conducted a tour of several historic sites, including the statue of Chinese revolutionary Mao Zedong. She placed a wreath there. Subsequently, she went to Hunan intangible cultural heritage museumdedicated to the protection and transmission of history and culture, combining the functions of collection, conservation, research, exhibition and education.

Thursday, June 29, 2023HE Ndayubaha Angéline traveled to Changshan to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expoas well as at China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum. Many African countries have been invited to these events. The Vice President of the People’s Republic of China said his country would spare no effort to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with the African continent. In the afternoon, the First Lady also participated in the China-Africa Women’s Forum, aiming to unite the strengths of Chinese and African women to promote their common development. She was accompanied by First Ladies of Malawi, Zanzibar and the People’s Republic of China (virtually), as well as other African delegations. In her speech during this forum, the First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to work in collaboration with her African sisters to eliminate the obstacles hindering the social and economic development of women, underlining the need for concerted action at all levels.
