Two boys aged 14 and 17 are between life and death following a violent fire at the Aérotel hotel in Saint-Cyr-l’École (Yvelines), we learned on Tuesday, confirming information from 78 Actu. This 200 m2 establishment has been welcoming unaccompanied minors for two years.

The 14-year-old must be airlifted to Bordeaux (Gironde). The 17-year-old was transferred to Trousseau hospital in Paris (12th century). Three other occupants of the hotel, more slightly affected, were taken to the André-Mignot hospital center in Versailles.

Sixty firefighters hard at work

Twenty-two young people were staying there on Tuesday morning when the fire broke out in one of the rooms around 10 a.m. According to initial findings, the fire was caused by the batteries of an electric scooter, which an occupant had placed under a bed to recharge them.

Sixty firefighters were deployed around this accommodation center, located near the Colonel-Beltrame roundabout. They were still hard at work in the early afternoon. The emergency services mobilized three vans, three ambulances and two ladders.

“We were forced to close a secondary road and divert traffic to allow firefighters to work. Traffic has just been restored, ”comments the office of the mayor (UDI) of Saint-Cyr-l’École, Sonia Brau.

In conjunction with the Childhood Social Assistance (ASE) services in the Yvelines department, this hotel, available to unaccompanied minors, is managed by the association Le Lien, tenant of the building. “All the minors were taken care of by social assistance and relocated to other premises managed by Le Lien”, specifies the departmental council this Tuesday afternoon. Established in Versailles for thirty years, this association works for integration through housing.
