Siqueira Campos was governor and creator of the state of Tocantins

José Wilson Siqueira Campos, creator of the state of Tocantins, died on Tuesday night (4) in Palmas, the state capital. At the age of 94, he had been admitted to the ICU of a private health unit since June 29.

The former governor of Tocantins was admitted to the hospital with a generalized infection, and his health deteriorated when he was diagnosed with a kidney crisis, in addition to an aggravation of the infectious condition.

Eduardo Siqueira Campos, José’s son, used social networks to confirm his father’s death, whom he referred to as “Mr. Tocantins”, and to state that he “departed serene”.

“It is with great regret that I communicate on behalf of Mr. Tocantins, my dear old Siqueira Campos. He left serene. The words are all spent, but never the feelings… Go with God my father, this state loves you!”, he wrote on your official Twitter account.

Earlier, Eduardo had already published a message where he pointed out that the situation of the breeder from the state of Tocantins was “very fragile”.

Siqueira had four different terms at the head of Tocantins: between 1989 and 1991, from 1995 to 1998, from 1999 to 2003 and from 2011 to 2014. His last political position was a short one-month stay in the Federal Senate, between July and August of 2019.
