The head of the Ministry of Health said that before the end of this six-year term, the Mexican public health system will be one of the best in the world to care for the population without social security.

IMSS Wellness Health Plan
The general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoe Robledo Aburtoreported the investment of 276 million pesos in electromechanical equipment for 210 hospitals in the states that made the decision to transfer their health services to IMSS-Wellness. This has generated a change in the provision of medical care services.
He highlighted that 9,446 actions have been carried out between the second half of 2022 and so far this year, and more interventions have been scheduled for Nayarit, Tlaxcala, Colima, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Campeche, Guerrero, Veracruz, Michoacán, Morelos, Zacatecas and Oaxaca, in addition to the entities that recently joined.
He stressed that these expenditures allow the proper functioning of a hospital and that health personnel carry out their work safely.
He pointed out that in the stages of raising and implementing the IMSS-Benestar Health Plan, a diagnosis was made of what was needed in electrical services; drinking water; waste control; environmental control systems; supply, control and distribution of fluids and energy; emergency supplies, refrigeration and washing and drying areas for hospital linen.
Medical equipment that has been purchased
He explained that 3,227 air conditioners, 3,171 medical oxygen gas outlets, 1,257 refrigerators, 670 fire extinguishers, 143 emergency plants, 143 medical air compressors, 139 control panels, 110 drinking water equipment, 95 boilers, eight industrial washers and dryers, 32 gas extraction systems, 20 water treatment plants, 13 vacuum pumps, nine oxygen manifoulds, as well as kitchen areas, stoves, steam sterilizers, and 228 additional pieces of equipment.
On the other hand, the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatellhighlighted that Mexico had the largest hospital reconversion that could have been in the world, with the authorization of up to 74 thousand beds during the peak of the second wave of the pandemic, as well as the adaptation of a health system that was very precarious and devastated, inherited from previous six-year terms.
