Dano, July 04, 2023 (AIB)- The Secretary General of the province of Ioba, André Lankoandé presided over the monthly ceremony of raising the colors on Monday, July 03, 2023 in Dano.

This civic and citizenship education activity again mobilized the constituted bodies and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). The ceremony performed by the FDS was accompanied by the Ditanyè sung by all the members of the constituted bodies present.

At the end of the military ceremony, the chief medical officer of the Dano district (MCD), Doctor Salam Mandé, thanked the participants for the honor bestowed on the health workers of the district.

He took this opportunity to inform all the constituted bodies of the progress of a catch-up vaccination campaign against COVID-19.

This campaign takes into account children who have not received all of their vaccines or who have never received a vaccine since birth. The campaign began on June 30 and will end on July 6, 2023, said Dr Mandé.

The first round of chemoprevention against seasonal malaria was carried out in June 2023, continued the MCD. The second is normally scheduled for July 20-24, 2023 and the southwestern region will benefit from five crossings, he added.

He asked for the support of the actors for the success of these campaigns in order to better fight against diseases. Dr. Salam Mandé also explained the increased need for blood during this season.

According to him, it is a period of high transmission of malaria and specified that during this period, the mortality rate of children under 05 years old is mainly linked to severe malaria which is responsible for anemia.

It is therefore logical that the need for blood products is increasing, he argued. He called for massive participation in blood donation for the life of our children.

The secretary general of the province of Ioba, André Lankoandé noted that a blood collection campaign will be organized on the instructions of the governor of the south-west region for the benefit of the health services. Public and private structures as well as religious communities will be invited to mobilize for a resounding success of the operation, he promised.

André Lankoandé thanked all the workers for the services rendered to the populations. The next rise of the colors will take place at the town hall of Dano on behalf of the provincial youth council, he informed.
