Mumbai: The shortlist for the ICC Test Player of the Year award has been released. The list includes four people. The award winner will be announced on January 24. India’s star off-spinner R Ashwin is vying for the 2021 Test Player of the Year award.
Ashwin has taken 52 wickets in eight Tests in the last one year. Ashwin scored 337 runs for India, including a century. England captain Joe Root, New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamison and Sri Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne are the other three ICC finalists.

Meanwhile, India had a 130-run first innings lead in the Centurion Test. India bowled out the hosts for just 197 in the first innings. India scored 327 in the first innings. The pacers’ explosive performance gave India a strong lead over South Africa. Mohammad Shami, who took five wickets, led the Indian pace attack. Jaspreet Bumra and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each. Mohammad Siraj also took one wicket.
