Investigation into the participation of soldiers in riot control operations in Lorient
A command investigation has been opened into the presumed presence of soldiers in riot control operations in Lorient (Morbihan), the army ministry announced to AFP on Wednesday, confirming information from several regional daily press media. “Until the results, there will be no comment”the ministry added.
“Apart from the elements mentioned by these articles, which refer to ‘people observed on the spot’ and report comments made by anonymous persons, the Lorient public prosecutor’s office does not have, as it stands, any concrete (…)nor was he the recipient [d’une] complaint (…) on this subject “, reports Stéphane Kellenberger, public prosecutor of Lorient, in a press release. Also, “it appears that the conditions for the opening of a criminal investigation have not been met, to date”explains the magistrate.
“I have no confirmation of the materiality of the facts” concerning the action of this group, told AFP the mayor of the city, Fabrice Loher (UDI).
That night, in Lorient, four people were arrested. “We took stock of the arrests: the four arrested were all arrested either by the national police or by the municipal police”assured the elected.
