“During the night, his wife woke up and noticed that he was no longer next to her in the bed”, which triggered searches inside and outside the residence, said Sergeant Geneviève Major, spokesperson for the Laval Police Department. He went to bed around 10 p.m.

Police were called to the scene at 3 a.m. after the man was found. “There was a rapid transport which was made in a hospital center, where unfortunately his death was noted”, explained the spokesperson.

She added that it was not yet known what he died of or why he came out: “These are all questions that are currently unanswered. “

This is why “a team of investigators went to the scene [mardi] morning with agents of the forensic identity service, to try to understand the causes and circumstances of the death ”.

The installation is owned by Les Résidences Cogir. “We are working with the authorities and we offer all our sympathies to the family,” said Brigitte Pouliot, spokesperson for the company.

As it is housing for independent people, the entries and exits are not controlled and a resident “can come back at any time of the night”, she specified.

On the Résidences Cogir website, we can read that Les Jardins de Renoir offer a “24-hour security” service and have surveillance cameras.
