Babysitter Pleads Not Guilty to Murder and Child Abuse Charges in Beaumont

BANNING, Calif. – In a shocking and disturbing case, a Beaumont babysitter has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and child abuse after allegedly inflicting severe head trauma on a 15-month-old boy, resulting in his death. Heather Lyn Greenman, 37, also stands accused of abusing another boy under her care.

Greenman made her first court appearance on Wednesday, following her arrest last week. The Beaumont Police Department conducted a two-month investigation before arresting the babysitter. Along with the murder charge, Greenman is also facing charges of assault on a minor resulting in great bodily injury and child cruelty.

The incident occurred on April 26 when Greenman reported that the 15-month-old boy had fallen while running in her home. However, the child’s injuries were far from accidental, as he suffered from swelling of the head and bleeding on the brain, which ultimately led to his death at a hospital.

Detectives became suspicious about the circumstances surrounding the child’s death after the coroner’s office raised concerns. During their investigation, they discovered another victim – a 2-year-old boy who had also suffered serious injuries while under Greenman’s care.

During her arraignment before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Joshlyn Pulliam, Greenman’s bail was increased to $1 million due to concerns about her being a flight risk, given her connections to individuals in Las Vegas. A felony settlement conference has been scheduled for August 17 at the Banning Justice Center.

This tragic case has shocked the community, and authorities are determined to ensure that justice is served for the victims involved. The City News Service has contributed to the reporting of this heinous incident.
