Hörl/Horst in Gstaad after defeating world champions in the main competition

At the World Tour tournament in Switzerland, the Austrian beach volleyball duo has to get up early after qualifying.

With two wins, Julian Hörl and Alexander Horst qualify for the main draw of the elite tournament in Gstaad (SUI) on Wednesday.
In the first match, the Argentinian brothers Capogrosso were defeated 21:18 and 22:20, which led to a duel with the 2017 world champion – Evandro – in the evening. Alex and Julian managed to get their revenge, beating the Brazilian duo Evandro/Arthur 21:19, 16:21 and 15:9.

Alexander Horst says: “The victories were very important today – not only for the head, but also for the tournaments in autumn, especially for the World Cup.”
Julian Hörl emphasizes: “We played very solidly today and came back stronger after short phases of weakness. In the first set, Alex Evandro pulled the nerve in defense, sensational balls.”

There is hardly any time for regeneration. Hörl/Horst have to play again on Thursday at 8 a.m. against Bryl/Losiak (POL). Austria’s only representatives at the elite tournament in the Swiss mountains came with Krou/Gauthier-Rath (FRA, 3), Bryl/Losiak (POL, 6) and Pedro Solberg/Guto (BRA, 11) in the preliminary round group, which uses the round robin system is played.
