Princess Cruises Ship Crashes into Dock at Pier 27 in San Francisco

San Francisco, July 6, 2023 – In a dramatic incident this morning, the Ruby Princess cruise ship crashed into the dock at Pier 27 in San Francisco. According to Princess Cruises spokesperson Negin Kamali, the ship made unexpected contact while docking at around 6 a.m. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were injured in the accident.

The Ruby Princess had more than 3,300 guests and over 1,100 crew members on board at the time of the crash. The ship had recently completed a 10-day round-trip cruise to Alaska that departed from San Francisco on June 26. Officials are currently evaluating the extent of the damage caused to both the ship and the pier.

A spokesperson for the San Francisco Port directed inquiries to Princess Cruises officials for further comment. Kamali, the Princess Cruises spokesperson, stated that any delays or changes to the Ruby Princess voyage, scheduled to depart at 4 p.m. for Alaska, are still being determined.
