The Police Authority of Sweden has announced a job opening for a security officer to join the Security Department in the North. The position aims to contribute to the personnel security work and ensure the Police Authority can effectively combat crime.

With approximately 35,000 employees organized into 7 regions and 10 national departments, the Police Authority plays a vital role in maintaining law and order in Sweden. The security department, comprising 10 units, is responsible for the operational protection and security of the Police Authority. This includes physical premises protection, employee security, security checks, and information protection.

As a security officer, the successful candidate will work at a regional level, with a primary focus on handling security-protected procurements. They will ensure compliance with the Security Protection Act, Security Protection Ordinance, and relevant regulations. The role encompasses follow-up, control, and advice both internally within the Police Authority and externally with SUA-approved companies.

The job location can be Umeå, Luleå, Sundsvall, or Östersund, with the possibility of working in another location 1-2 days a week. The position will be led by the regional security manager based in Umeå. Therefore, the candidate must be comfortable with virtual work management and collaborating with colleagues across different locations.

Key Responsibilities:
– Procurement security and SUA personnel security
– Security protection and risk management
– Physical security
– Representing the Security Department within the police region
– Participating in national projects within the Police Authority
– Internal training in security issues
– Increasing awareness of the police’s security work at various levels

The candidate should possess a police degree or an academic degree in economics, law, or a relevant field. Additionally, they should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a role involving contracts, information handling, and registration of documents and cases related to security, law enforcement, or procurement. Good verbal and written communication skills in Swedish, as well as computer proficiency, are also required.

Preferred qualifications include experience in security-protected procurements and contracts, conducting security-related interviews, intelligence work, and knowledge of laws and regulations governing security protection. Additional language skills and previous administrative work experience in security-related roles would also be advantageous.

The selected candidate will be self-motivated, able to manage complex information, and make decisions based on security priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team are essential.
