Santamarea is a project born in 2022, the band is made up of the Gelardi brothers, Stefano 22 years old (vocals, synth), Francesco 25 years old (electric guitar, backing vocals) Michele 18 years old (drums, percussion, piano, backing vocals) and his friend of childhood Noemi Orlando 23 years old (electric bass, backing vocals). “The song together with our name – said the Santamareas – was born as a mystical inspiration from the images of the stretch of coast of Carini, where we live, which mixes nature and urban decay, and identifies in the tide the force capable of placating, like a saint, the emotional storms that afflict us”.
The 20,000 euros of the Banca Macerata Prize that they will invest in their musical project will go to the Santamareas, thanks to the votes of the Sferisterio audience of the two final evenings. The Sicilian group prevailed over the other finalist artists: AMarti with the song “Pietra”, Ilaria Argiolas with “I would like to heal myself”, Cecilia with “Tears of lead to hold with your hands”, Lamante with “L’ultimo piano”, Simone Matteuzzi with “Ipersensitive”, Cristiana Verardo with “I finished the songs” and Zic with the song “Futuro stupendo”. Santamarea also won the PMI Award for the Best Recording Project and the Unmarche Award for the best text and the Critics Plaque named after Piero Cesanelli, the creator of Musicultura and artistic director from the first edition until 2019. The Nuovo Imaie Award , a recognition of 10 thousand euros for the realization of a tour, delivered by the journalist and music critic John Vignola of Rai Radio 1 official radio of the Festival, was assigned to Lamante.
The Musicultura evenings, brilliantly conducted for the first time by Flavio Insinna and Carolina Di Domenico, saw the performance of many guests, including: Simone Cristicchi and Amara, Fabio Concato, Paola Turci, Santi Francesi, Ermal Meta, Dardust… Musicultura’s Main Media Partner is Rai, with Rai Radio1, Rai 2, TGR, Rainews24, Rai Canone, Rai Italia and RaiPlay Sound committed to covering the event in the round. The best of Musicultura 2023 will be broadcast on Rai 2 in the late evening on Thursday 6 July under the direction of Duccio Forzano and will be simultaneously broadcast worldwide by Rai Italia.
