INVESTIGATION – The crises in Lebanon have caused a collapse of the education system. Once a source of national pride, education has crumbled. Two-thirds of Lebanese students do not reach basic literacy levels while teachers have followed months of strikes.

A few days before the Lebanese baccalaureate, set for July 10, Amir is coming to the end of a month of support courses organized by volunteers for high school students in the public sector. The establishments closed for two to three months due to the strike of public teachers demanding salary compensation after the collapse of the Lebanese pound. “We had very few classes. When they were present, the teachers did the minimum service, saying that they were paid a pittance. Amir is counting on this remedial session to obtain the diploma, but also on the reduction of 40% of the program granted by the Ministry of Education. “The mere organization of exams does not solve anything on the merits.
