More than half a million tickets sold by Renfe with discount for youth

Renfe has sold more than 500,000 discounted tickets for young people between the ages of eighteen and thirty, so that this segment of the population can travel in Spain between June 15 and September 15.

During the first month of application of the measure, Renfe has registered a wide demand to move around the interior on the dates on which these bonuses are in force. Between June 15 and the last weekend of that month, 253,000 young people have opted for the services offered by Renfe at these reduced rates. This figure represents 90 percent of the users who choose the train within the options of the Summer Youth initiative.

The discounts are those that are applied after the measure approved by the Government to make it easier for young people from Spain or from any other European Union country with legal residence in Spain, born between 1993 and 2005, to travel by transport this summer. Once this campaign was launched, Renfe became the first company to activate this type of special sale on June 6.

Passengers between the ages of eighteen and thirty, both inclusive, benefit from 50 percent discounts on AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Intercity and Euromed trains, with a maximum discount of thirty euros per ticket. The same reduction is applied to single Avant tickets, and these special prices have a 90 percent discount on the rest of the Media Distancia or Metric Width network services.

In parallel, the operator has reinforced this measure with the creation of a special additional promotion for this group, which gives bonuses with a free trip to those who are or become part of the Ms Renfe loyalty program, if they travel at least twice between 15 June and September 15. With this initiative, for every two trips made between those dates, a 100 percent discount code is obtained to buy a ticket in the following three months.

This campaign has had the result, to date, that registrations in the Ms Renfe program have doubled and an average of 3,000 daily adhesions have been reached.
