Centurion: India hope to win Centurion Test (SA vs IND) against South Africa South Africa, who reached the crease on the fourth day with a target of 305, were 94 for four at stumps. Captain Dean Elgar is at the crease with 52 runs. With six wickets in hand on the final day, South Africa needed 211 more runs to win. India will take six wickets.
South Africa were bowled out for 305 in the second over. Mohammad Shami bowled Aiden Mark for a run. Mohammad Siraj Keegan Peterson (17) was bowled by Rishabh when South Africa had 34 runs on the scoreboard.
Bumra broke down the defense
Dean Elgar, defending with Razi Wander Dass, slowly outscored South Africa. Jaspreet Bumra broke through Dawson’s defense and bowled a clean bowl as the duo put up a 40 – run stand. Dawson scored 11 off 65 balls. Elgar, who later completed his half-century with Keshav Maharaj as the night watchman, averted South Africa’s collapse. On the fourth day, South Africa were bowled out for a double by Bumrah in the final over off Keshav Maharaj (8).
Temba Bauma, Quinton de Kok and Vian Mulder are the other batsmen in the South African squad. Dean Elgar and De Kok’s wickets will be crucial on the final day. For India, Bumrah, Shami and Siraj took two wickets each.
Earlier, India started the fourth day at 16 for one. KL Rahul (five) and night watchman Shardul Thakur (four) were at the crease. Rabada, however, added six more runs to the individual score and put Thakur in the hands of Mulder to give India their first blow. KL Rahul, who scored a century in the first innings, could not go much further. With 23 off 74 balls, Rahul was bowled out by Ngidi and Elgar.
Disappointed Kohli, Pujara, Rahane
Captain Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara made a small rescue operation. South Africa, who initially dropped Pujara, did not have to wait long. India were 79 for three at lunch before losing skipper Virat Kohli in the first ball of the innings. Like in the first innings, Kohli took the wicket with the bat off the off stump. Kohli contributed 18 runs. Marco Johnson took the wicket.
Pujara, who crossed the 100 mark with Rahane, did not live long. Pujara, who scored 16, came back with a catch to Decock for the wicket. Rahane started the innings with 20 runs to spare, but was caught by Wander Dawson at the boundary in an attempt to pull off Marco Johnson’s delivery.
Rishabh’s counter-attack with Ashwin helped India cross the 300 mark. After Ashwin’s 14 off 17 balls, Rishabh bowled South Africa out for 34. Then came the ceremonies. Dumsen himself ended the Indian innings by knocking down Siraj after Bumrah (7 *) crossed the Indian lead 300 off Marco Johnson with a boundary. Rabada and Marco Johnson took four wickets each for South Africa, while Lungi Ngidi took two wickets.
