The Gijón Port Authority (spain) has railway facilities at the Osa pier, which have deteriorated due to the passage of time and intensive use of them. Therefore, the enclave will proceed to restore the infrastructure to keep it active.

The railway infrastructure of the La Osa pier is located parallel to the old shoulder of the La Osa breakwater and is made up of a main two-wire track, 1,295 meters long in the area to be renovated, and a service track, used for storage of two wires, 843 meters long.

Whereas, the main track runs on rails on ballast and allows the transit of railway compositions to the different areas of the La Osa and Moliner docks, while the siding track, with the new location of the escape between said track and the main road favors its operation as a storage or service road.

Consequently, the renovation works will be carried out on the rear access road to the La Osa docks, on the service road that is a siding road from the previous one, as well as on the preliminary sections to the diverted roads from the rear road. to the different areas of the docks.

The works have an execution period of ten months, a bidding base budget of 3,628,441.79 euros and an estimated contract value of 2,998,712.22 euros.

It is worth mentioning that these improvements will further boost the growth that the Gijón enclave is experiencing this year. And it is that, the Port of Gijón has managed to channel a total of 10,625,893 tons during the first six months of the year, which indicates an increase of 11% in the midst of a stage of general traffic containment in the port system.
