Mark Cavendish will not beat the record for stage victories on the Tour de France that he holds with Eddy Merckx. The Briton retired on Saturday after a crash, organizers said.
The Isle of Man sprinter, 38, who was competing in the Grande Boucle for the last time, fell in the middle of the peloton about sixty kilometers from the finish. Holding his right shoulder, the Astana runner climbed into the ambulance with tears in his eyes.
