A two-and-a-half-year-old boy has been missing since Saturday in the town of Vernet. A major research system has been deployed.

A child aged two and a half has been missing since Saturday July 8 in the town of Vernet in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. “A very large gendarmerie and fire brigade is deployed. No lead is privileged at the moment”, according to information from BFM TV. The grandparents of little Émile called for help after losing sight of their grandson who was playing in their garden in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet, in the town of Vernet.
A large force of gendarmerie and firefighters has been deployed, in addition to Saint-Hubert dogs. The authorities also use thermal drones as well as a helicopter with thermal reconnaissance. “Research has been underway since yesterday to find him. They continued for a good part of the night and resumed at dawn, ”says Rémy Avon, public prosecutor of Digne-les-Bains, to the news channel.
Residents mobilized
Many residents of the area mobilized to search for the little boy. “We are appalled […] The Soleil family is known here, they have been coming for decades on vacation. Émile was playing with his grandparents and he disappeared. Many police and firefighters are present. But also the inhabitants of the village and the canton to try to find the child, ”says François Balique, the mayor of Vernet. The investigation opened by the prosecution is entrusted to the research brigade of the gendarmerie of Digne-les-Bains.
