On July 5, in the National Chamber of Deputies we approved a series of benefits for credits per purchasing value unit, known as UVA credits. This initiative is an important step to help people who acquired UVA mortgage loans and who have been affected by inflation and the devaluation of the peso.

One of the most important benefits of the project is that the value of the installment cannot exceed 30% of the debtor’s income. This measure seeks to avoid the over-indebtedness of citizens and guarantee that the payment of installments is sustainable over time.

Another significant benefit is the suspension for one year of eviction trials, releases, embargoes or any type of preventive or precautionary measures in process on those homes acquired through this type of credit. This measure protects citizens in vulnerable situations and gives them a break in times of financial difficulties.

In addition, the project establishes that those citizens reached by the Income Tax may deduct up to three minimum wages annually. This measure alleviates the tax burden of citizens and gives them a greater margin to pay their dues.

Likewise, UVA credit debtors may sell their property and the existing credit. This possibility gives them an alternative in the event that they cannot afford to pay the installments and need to get out of the debt situation they are facing.

The project was sent to the Senate and it is expected that it will be sanctioned soon and become law. Subsequently, the BCRA will issue the regulations and the benefits must be requested by the interested parties from the institution that granted the credit.

It is important to highlight that these measures represent a step in the right direction to protect citizens who have been harmed by the economic crisis that the country is going through. As representatives of the people, we must continue working to solve the problems of Argentines and guarantee a better future for all.
