After clashing with Bolsonaro over differences related to the tax reform,
São Paulo governor Tarcísio Freitas (Republicans) downplayed the episode and said he was loyal and eternally grateful to the former president for his political support.

“I will always be loyal to the president, I will always be grateful to the president, I will always be grateful. If I’m here, I owe him”, said Tarcísio during an event celebrating the 1932 Revolution, in São Paulo (SP).

Tarcísio and Bolsonaro met on Friday (7) after the approval of the reform in the Chamber of Deputies. The governor said the meeting was “excellent”, but stressed that he will not always agree with his political godfather.

“The president is a great friend. Note, we may disagree at some point on the reform [tributária], it’s normal. It is not possible that we will always agree, agree on everything, “he argued.

Bolsonaro had also spoken about the meeting with Tarcísio. A CNN
the former president said that the conversation was positive and that the relationship between the two remains firm.
