For the fifth time in the role of artistic director and host, Amadeus announced today the publication of the Regulations of the 74th edition of the Sanremo Festival which will be broadcast on Rai1 from 6 to 10 February 2024. The order of performance of the artists will change during the early evenings, the “cover” evening, the jury and the number of artists in the competition.

“On the first evening there will be all the songs in the competition – explained Amadeus in connection with Tg1 – while on Wednesday and Thursday evenings the songs will be divided and the singers who will not sing will be the co-conductors of the Festival and will present their colleagues, on the basis of a draw that will take place during the morning press conference”. Another novelty concerns the evening of covers which will see “the singers accompanied by an artist, unless there are two or more singers in the competition, then they will not need another person to accompany them on stage at the Ariston Theater. The choice of The song is free and the artists will be able to sing any national or international song from any era, but also their own songs until 31 December 2023. The final evening will be Saturday with the winning song of the Sanremo 2024 Festival”.

The latest news, announces Amadeus, “concerns the juries: in addition to televoting and the press room, there will be a radio jury that replaces opinion polls. From national to regional or local radios they will have a very important role”.

ALL THE NEWS

In the first evening the 26 singers in the competition will perform, while 13 will be present in the second and as many in the third. Artists not included in the competition on Wednesdays and Thursdays will also participate in the television show to introduce the performances of the others. The pairing of the “presenting” artists and the “performing” artists will take place with a public draw, which will take place during the daily press conferences on 7 and 8 February 2024.

On the fourth evening, the time reference limit for the so-called “covers” will be eliminated: the singers in the competition, supported by a guest artist, will interpret a published song – identified by them in agreement with the Artistic Director and Rai – taken from the Italian repertoire and international and published until 31 December 2023. Covers may include previously published songs by themselves. The artists who will already participate in the competition of the Festival, in pairs with each other (or in a larger team) as an “artistic partnership” formed for the occasion, may not avail themselves of the presence of the guest. The interpretations-performances of the fourth evening will be an integral part of the competition.

The three juries that will determine the rankings of the competition are confirmed, expressing their vote according to the current Regulations, but a Radio Jury is added to the Televoting and the Jury of the Press Room, TV and Web. The Demoscopic Jury therefore disappears and will be replaced by a Radio Jury, made up of national and local radio stations, identified according to criteria of representation of the entire Italian territory.

As for the number of champions in the competition, Sanremo 2024 will include 26 singers (including the 3 finalists of Sanremo Giovani). During the Prime Evening the 26 songs in the competition will be voted by the Jury of the Press Room, TV and Web and the songs/Artists in the top 5 positions in the standings will be communicated to the public. During the second and third evenings, the 13 songs in the competition will instead be voted by the public through Televoting and by the Radio Jury. The two voting systems in the Evening will have a percentage weight distributed as follows: Televoting 50%; Radio Jury 50%. Also in these evenings the classification of the first 5 positions will be communicated.

During the Fourth Evening, the evening-event dedicated to Covers, the 26 Artists in the competition will be voted for by all 3 Juries: by the public with Televoting, by the Jury of the Press Room, TV and Web and by the Radio Jury. The three voting systems will have a percentage weight on the overall result of the vote divided as follows: Televoting 34%: Press Room, TV and Web Jury 33%, Radio Jury 33%. The songs/Artists in the first 5 positions will be communicated to the public and the first classified Artist will be declared the “winner of the evening”.

In the final, the Fifth Evening, all 26 songs in the competition will be reinterpreted again, voted by the public through Televoting. The general ranking of the 26 songs/Artists determined at the end of the previous fourth evening will be communicated to the public and at the end of the fifth evening a new general ranking of the 26 songs/Artists will be drawn up. The public, however, will only know the top 5 songs/artists of the new overall chart.

After the re-proposition of the songs performed by the first 5 classified, the previous votes will be reset and a new vote will be taken by the three juries (Televoting, Jury of the Press Room, TV and Web and Jury of the Radio) which will have a percentage weight on the result total divided as follows: Televoting 34%: Jury of the Press Room, TV and Web 33%; Radio Jury 33%. The song/artist with the highest percentage of the overall vote obtained in the latter vote will be proclaimed the winner of Sanremo 2024.

What does not change, on the other hand, is the philosophy of the Amadeus Festival, which concludes its speech on Tg1 with the phrase “Sanremo si Ama”. With the songs, the music and the absolute protagonists of the event.
