Judging by the appearance and activity around the building of the second Lidl store in Narva, on Kangelaste Street, the main construction work has been completed, but the press representative of Lidl Eesti OÜ did not tell Narva Gazeta when exactly it is planned to open.
“Long process”
“While we do not announce the opening date. Preparing to open a store is a long and thorough process. After the construction is completed, the necessary equipment must be installed in the store, and its employees must be trained so that they are ready to offer customers the best service, ”Katrin Seppel, communications manager for Lidl Eesti, told NG.
Asked if we could wait for this Lidl to open in the summer or already in the fall, Seppel said: “At the moment we do not want to comment on the opening time, but preparations are nearing completion.”
This Tuesday, your correspondent, without introducing himself and without asking his interlocutors to introduce themselves, asked three men who were leaving the fenced area of Lidl at Kangelaste 37a when the store would open? One of them on the move replied that, most likely, this will not happen before the beginning of September.
The first Narva Lidl was opened on March 3, 2022, a year after its construction was completed and everything was ready to receive buyers. The delay was due to the fact that the company was preparing to enter the Estonian market by opening seven stores at the same time, including Narva.
The range is the same everywhere.
Outwardly, Lidl on Kangelast, to put it mildly, is inferior to its predecessor, which operates at the beginning of the Tallinn Highway, but the latter just corresponds to the usual look of the chain stores – an ordinary “box”, without frills. This first Narva Lidl was an exception to the rule, thanks to the fact that the city authorities got the investor to propose an architecturally interesting project for the center of Narva.

According to Lidl Eesti’s spokeswoman Katrin Seppel, the Kangelast store will employ 30 people, including several Lidl employees in Tallinn. In March of this year, 9 people were laid off in the first Narva Lidl, which was due, among other things, to unfulfilled hopes for a flow of buyers from Russia.
Lidl has built a car park on Kangelasta with 121 parking spaces, two of them for the disabled, and two more for family parking spaces.
The product range of the second Narva Lidl will correspond to the product range of the first Lidl, which is standard for all chain stores in Estonia.
“On the occasion of the opening of the store in Kangelasta, there will be special offers for four weeks,” informs Katrin Seppel.
Not far from Lidl, which is about to launch, are its competitors: Prisma and Grossi (there are two of them on the neighboring Pähklimäe street).
– What will the new Lidl be able to oppose to them?
“Our goal is to always offer products with the best value for money, and we don’t want to comment on our competitors’ activities,” Seppel said.
Only Lidl will operate in the building of the new Lidl. No other shops are planned there.
