BEPC 2023: beginning of the tests for the 305,836 candidates

Some 305,836 pupils in the 3rd class are taking the Brevet d’études du premier cycle (BEPC) exams this week. They are distributed in 9054 examination centers throughout the country.

Figures from the Ministry of National Education indicate that 149,956 candidates chose option A. 155,880 chose option B, the two options are distinguished in particular by the coefficients granted for literary and scientific subjects. 47 candidates also have physical disabilities.

As during the CEPE exams, it was the Minister of National Education, Marie Michelle Sahondraharimalala who gave the starting signal for this exam on this first day. Very early, around 7am, she opened the subjects at the center of the Modern High School in Ampefiloha. This member of the government took the opportunity to give the last instructions to the managers of the centers and to encourage the candidates at the same time.

The pass rate for this exam marking the end of middle school was 56.42% in 2022.
