Andy Delort in Nantes, it’s well and truly over. The Algerian international striker, 31, has signed a two-year contract with Umm Salal SC, which has just finished in 10th place (out of 12) in the Qatar championship. On Sunday, the Sétois native successfully passed the medical examination to join the Faucons du Barzan. The transaction is valued at approximately 2.5 million euros.

Delort will only have made a brief stint in Loire-Atlantique, where he had put his crampons in January from Nice in the form of a loan with compulsory purchase option which linked him with the Canaries until 2025.

In the yellow and green jersey, the globetrotter of the round ball has scored only two penalty goals in the Coupe de France in 17 games in all competitions. The two penalties that allowed the Canaries to eliminate Lens in the quarter-finals (2-1)… He entered the break against Toulouse in the final, without being able to avoid the sinking of Nantes (1-6). In total, Delort has a record of 85 goals and 32 assists in 259 Ligue 1 games.

In Qatar, the Franco-Algerian, who chose to represent the Fennecs in 2019, will pursue a chaotic career where his strong temperament has often played tricks on him. Since his professional debut in Nîmes in 2009, he has already played for eleven different clubs (eight in France, but also Wigan in England and the Tigers in Mexico).
