Heavy Rain with Thunder and Lightning Expected in 9 Districts of Tamil Nadu Today

The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory stating that heavy rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur in 9 districts of Tamil Nadu today. This weather condition is a result of the cyclonic circulation prevailing over the coastal areas of North Tamil Nadu.

According to the advisory, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may also occur in a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Several districts including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Pudukottai, Sivagangai, and Karaikal have already received heavy rain at one or two places.

On July 11, similar weather conditions are expected to persist in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms occurring in a few places.

From July 12 to July 16, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to experience light to moderate rain at a couple of places.

Meanwhile, Chennai and its suburbs will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. Some parts of the city may experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. The maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to reach around 36-37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 26-27 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies are expected in various parts of the city.
