Last week, a small earthquake shook the German political scene. For the first time, the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party has managed to elect a mayor in the country. This is Hannes Loth from the small town of Raghun-Jessnitz in the state of Upper Saxony. In the municipality of almost 9 thousand inhabitants, Loth, with 51% of the votes, defeated his opponent Nils Neumann, who presented himself as an independent candidate.
