The courageous victory of veteran Michael Woods (36) in this 9th stage was unfortunately not the center of attention. Because it is in the puy de Dôme that the favorites had to explain themselves to the general. And thanks to a supersonic attack, Tadej Pogacar took eight seconds from his biggest competitor, and defending champion, Jonas Vingegaard for the yellow jersey.
For his part, Neilson Powless, who took the lead on the hills of Felletin, Poncharraud and Pontaumur and 6th at the puy de Dôme, collected ten new points and took the lead in the classification of best climber.
