Ly Company and Starlite Occident have signed a collaboration agreement through which the multinational of Malaga origin, with its premium water brand Aqualy, will be the company that manufactures the agua official Starlite Occident in a fully customized packaging. Thus, the festival of the stars will offer a premium water in one of the more sustainable packaging that currently exist on the market.
With this agreement between Aqualy and Starlite Occident, the festival aligns itself with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda and the circular economy by promoting sustainability and using packaging that reduces the use of plastic and CO2 emissions. This is one of the key efforts of the 2023 Sustainability Project in which Starlite Occident is immersed.
And it is that between 82 and 85% of the materials used in the Aqualy packaging are renewable, so that the environmental footprint both in production and in the entire life cycle of the product is considerably reduced. Likewise, the cardboard, which is 60% of the packaging, comes from sustainably managed forests with the FSC certificate, and the bioplastics used both in the packaging laminate and in the cap are of plant origin: they come from sugar cane with Bonsucro certification.
“With the 275,000 units that are going to be packaged for Starlite, we estimate that there will be about 2,500 kg less plastic throughout the festival, as well as approximately 10,000 kg less CO2, both due to the life cycle of the packaging and due to proximity of the factory and the reduction of emissions in transport. This reduction is equivalent to about 350 trees”, explains the CEO and founder of Ly Company – Aqualy, Curro Rodríguez.
A solidarity project
With the commercialization of Aqualy, the Starlite Occident Festival also collaborates with the solidarity projects carried out by the Fundación Ly Company Agua y Vida, since part of the price of the container is donated to this organization. The Festival’s donation will be in favor of the projects that the Foundation is carrying out both in Malaga, where they are carrying out a search campaign for foster families, and in places like the Dominican Republic, where they are building a day center for literacy and Basic care for minors with needs, focused on the eradication of child labor and the prevention of sexual assaults.
