The world No.1 has reversed a badly embarked situation against the 2021 finalist and qualifies for its first quarter-final in London. He will challenge Holger Rune.

World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz passed the test promised by 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini (38th) with flying colors on Monday, which he beat 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3, thus rising to the first time in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Proof of the Spaniard’s superiority, he only lost his serve once, in the first set, then only had to defend one break point, in the second. On the contrary, he obtained 16 break points on Berrettini’s service, yet one of his main weapons, and made four of them.

The 20-year-old Spaniard will face Dane Holger Rune (6th) for a place in the last four.

Last year, for his second participation in the Major on grass, Alcaraz was eliminated in the round of 16 by the Italian Jannik Sinner after a breathtaking match.

This year, after winning his first Queen’s title on grass just before coming to Wimbledon, he says he is aiming for a second Grand Slam title after the US Open last year.

He has now reached at least the quarters in three of the Majors. At the Australian Open he hasn’t made it past the third round yet, but he was out with injury this year.
