If you cannot yet swim in the Seine, it is possible to sail, row or paddle between the bridge of Saint-Cloud and that of Sèvres. A body of water which for fifteen years has been the discovery ground for water sports practiced from the departmental park of Île-de-Monsieur, in Sèvres (Hauts-de-Seine).

Until July 27, the Nautique Hauts-de-Seine summer operation allows families to go sailing, rowing and canoeing, activities supervised by qualified educators from resident equipment associations: Boulogne 92, the Hauts-de-Seine rowing club and the Nautique Seine association as well as the departmental canoe-kayak committee.

This is the case of Alexandre, a business school student at La Défense and who lives in Chaville, who has swapped the beaches of Granville (Manche), where he is usually a monitor, for the Parisian waves. “It’s a delicate sport, because here the wind is always changing,” he smiles, as he climbs a family from Boulogne on one of the fleet’s five seils, these wooden sailing boats which owe their name one arm of the Loire.

“We’ve been wanting to try it for a long time, and now that the children are a little older, it’s the perfect opportunity”, summarizes the mother of the family before the half-hour trip on the water with the little ones. 6 and 8 years old, equipped with life jackets.

A peak of attendance at the end of the afternoon

They can then try another workshop, this time in a closed pool, with canoe-kayak initiations specially designed for 6-10 year olds. Like Athénaïs, 6 and a half years old, who tries to score a basket in a net from her small canoe, under the amused gaze of her parents, Mathieu and Aude.

“It was a colleague of my wife who is part of the club who told him about the entertainment, it’s really a very pleasant place, and there are not yet too many people”, explains this Parisian from the 2nd arrondissement.

In addition to the initiations offered, Nautique Hauts-de-Seine is an opportunity to discover the workshops where the boats of the nautical park are manufactured and repaired, including Venetian gondolas. LP/A.-SD

Because the entertainment continues until 8 p.m., with a peak in attendance from 5 p.m. Attracted by the free initiations, families are also invited to move away from the banks of the Seine to discover the workshops, because the nautical base is also a shipyard.

The expected participation of a Vendée Globe skipper

“We build wooden boats, we repair those of the sailing school and we provide space and equipment for people who want to make or redo a boat”, summarizes Jean-Pierre, volunteer of the shipyard for seven years. by visiting the workshops where two Venetian gondolas are enthroned.

“It’s really an opportunity for us to discover not only the club which has 300 licensees but also this site which is rare in Île-de-France”, underlines Jean-François Wagner, vice-president of Nautique Seine.

A club whose most famous licensee is navigator Stéphane Le Diraison, two Vendée Globes to his credit. He is due to come soon to exhibit in the workshop the makeshift sail he had made during his dismasting off the southern Australian coast in December 2016.

Until July 27 on the nautical base of the Island of Monsieur, in Sèvres. Tuesday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free introductions.
