Sharing a car on short journeys to go, mainly, to work. With this philosophy, the startup Hoop Carpool was born, which has just closed a round of 1.2 million euros.

Faced with options such as Blablacar, which is committed to connecting private users for long-distance journeys, Hoop connects short-distance journeys “only to work or university”, according to company sources, who also point out that drivers receive compensation for being they who put the vehicle and means of transport. A remuneration that is received from other users or from the company they work for, if you have an agreement with Hoop Carpool.

In fact, the annual payments for licenses from companies and universities are the main source of income for this startup.

This round of financing is led by the impact manager Ship2B Ventures through the BSocial Impact Fund, supported by Banco Sabadell, FEI and AXIS, as well as 4Founders Capital. In addition, Lanai Partners and several Angels join, such as Juan José Mostazo, Carles Florensa Torné, José Ignacio Alonso Cembrano, Fernando Lelo de Larrea and Haro, David Tomás Jodar, Delfi Torns Solé and Marcos Ferrán Claraso,

According to the company, it has more than 60 clients, has facilitated more than 60,000 trips, thus saving 220,000kg of CO2 emissions and achieving car sharing for more than 1.6 million kilometers on its platform.

In addition, it has strategic alliances with leading national companies such as Mercadona and Banco Santander, which have adopted Hoop Carpool as an alternative for their employees, promoting fuel savings and caring for the environment. Likewise, Hoop Carpool has expanded its presence to the hotel sector, collaborating with recognized brands such as Iberostar and Meliá.

Hoop Carpool arose after its four founders (Nathan Lehoucq (CMO), Andrea García Torrijos (CSO), Carlos Alonso Aguilar (CTO) and Paloma Martín Benito (CEO)) experienced daily mobility challenges, high costs and pollution generated by conventional means of transport on the outskirts of Madrid.

Hoop Carpool has extended its vision to public organizations and universities that seek to promote sustainable and collaborative mobility. Municipalities such as Las Rozas, Alcobendas, Beasain and Dénia have adopted carpooling as an effective measure to reduce traffic and improve the sustainability of their roads.

In addition, academic institutions such as the Rey Juan Carlos University, the University of Cádiz and the consortium of the university city of Madrid have implemented Hoop Carpool, offering students and academic staff an alternative for their trips to campus.

The startup’s challenge is to reach a million euros in turnover in the next 12 months by doubling its work team.
